Benefit denied? How to request a review of the decision
Video guide
If you disagree with a Försäkringskassan decision, you can request an omprövning — a formal reconsideration. Do not submit only “I disagree”. A stronger request identifies a specific error and provides evidence that can change the assessment.
A benefit denial is not always the final word.
If you disagree with a decision from the social insurance agency, you can request a formal review. The case is assessed again, including new evidence, and the reviewed decision can then be appealed to an administrative court.
What you need to know
- If you disagree with a Försäkringskassan decision, you can request an omprövning — a formal reconsideration.
- Försäkringskassan must receive the reconsideration request within two months from the day you received the decision.
- Explain which decision you want changed, the outcome you want and why, and attach relevant new evidence.
- The reconsideration decision can be appealed to the administrative court; the appeal is first sent to Försäkringskassan, also within two months.
What to do
- Read the Ä r du inte nöjd med beslutet section in the decision letter.
- State what is wrong, what outcome you request and why.
- Attach new relevant evidence.
- Submit within the stated deadline and keep proof of submission.
Important
Do not submit only “I disagree”. A stronger request identifies a specific error and provides evidence that can change the assessment.
